Originally, all the projects were led by Mount Elgon Orchards. However, as the projects grew, it became increasingly less desirable for them to be so heavily dependant on the farm. It was decided to set up a foundation which would secure the future of the projects. The company remains however as sponsor for the foundation, which makes it easier to raise funds from other sources.

The trust is managed by 5 trustees: Bea Andersen, Bob Andersen, Cherry Dale, the Catholic Bishop and a community representative.
The trust is now owner of the clinic, school and church buildings, and the land upon which they are built.
Mount Elgon Orchards is the trusts’ largest and most important sponsor, and is responsible for the salaries of the project personnel (50 people) and for the maintenance of all the buildings.
SOK and Elimu support the medical and education projects respectively. Both are aided by larger organisations, such as Cordaid,Wilde Ganzen and other donors.
The German development bank has provided financial assistance in the building of the hospital and the Aids Clinic.
